Guevara

1928 — 1967

Guevara was born in Rosario, Argentina, to a middle-class family. He studied medicine at the University of Buenos Aires, but he became increasingly interested in politics and social justice. In 1955, he traveled to Mexico, where he met Fidel Castro and joined the 26th of July Movement, a revolutionary group that was fighting against the Cuban dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

In 1956, Guevara joined Castro and other rebels in their attempt to overthrow Batista. The rebels landed in Cuba and began a guerrilla war against the government. After two years of fighting, the rebels were victorious and Castro became the leader of Cuba. Guevara served in the Cuban government as Minister of Industries and as a diplomat.

Guevara is a controversial figure, but he is also one of the most iconic revolutionaries of the 20th century. His image, with his iconic beret and beard, has become a symbol of revolution and rebellion around the world.
