Michelangelo

1475 — 1564

Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance artist renowned for his exceptional talent in sculpture, painting, and architecture. Born in Caprese, Michelangelo's artistic genius flourished during the High Renaissance period in Florence and Rome.

As a sculptor, Michelangelo created some of the most iconic works in Western art history, including the marble masterpiece “David” and the monumental “Pieta” in St. Peter's Basilica. His prowess in sculpture was matched by his achievements in painting, notably his frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, including the famous “Creation of Adam.”

Michelangelo also made significant contributions to architecture, designing buildings such as the Laurentian Library in Florence and overseeing the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Throughout his life, Michelangelo's dedication to his craft, profound artistic vision, and technical mastery elevated him to legendary status within the art world.
